curious

I just had to deal with customer support and they were wonderful, they have offered to replace my clip that has suddenly stopped working after only 1 month of use. Thank you

Now for the questions…

While I was on the phone, the tech guy seemed to be suprised that my clip kept going back and forth between the sandisk label/erasing and the “connected screen” when connected to the computer…is it not supposed to do that and if the new one comes in and does the same thing is it a bad one also? I can’t remember if my girlfriend’s does the same thing…I’ll have to ask her.

We bought 2 of these things at the same time and had to exchange one right away because it refused to sync and keep music on it…now I have the problem with this one not wanting to turn on…are these common problems? Should I be looking for to buy something else soon? I got these on a recommendation from a family member who loves sandisk products, I hope that I didn’t just throw away the money. Surely the company can’t afford to keep just replacing them for up to a year (warranty time).

Is there anything I need to be aware of? In light of my own problems, this website seems to be full of bad news. I guess I am just looking for reassurance that the sansa clip is a decent product on the whole and I just got unlucky a couple of times.

It definitely does do that when connected.  Either the tech support guy was confused by something, or didn’t know what he was talking about.

Most often, when the Clip won’t start up, it’s a simple issue of a soft reset: hold the ON switch up for about 10 seconds, release, then power up as usual.  Try this if one of your Clips misbehaves in the future.

I have a whole gaggle of these wee devices, and so far, they are wonderful.  The primary issues I’ve seen are the self-discharge / battery batch out there, and assorted communications issues due to the earlier firmware, that didn’t include the USB Mode option.

Oh, and the “sunglasses issue” with the 4gb version, hopefully helped with the new firmware.

Enjoy your Clips!

Keep in mind that people usually come to a forum like this to complain about a problem rather than to say they’re having no problems.  If you compare the number of complaints on this forum to the thousands of Clips that Sandisk has sold, you’d probably find a pretty good ratio of happy customers.

As for the Clip, you’d be hard pressed to find something with this sound quality at this size in any price range, much less what the Clip sells for.  Hang in there, you’ll love the thing once you get past the quirks.

thanks, much

I haven’t gotten the new one back yet but I sure had gotten spoiled while I had the one that quit. I am looking forward when excitement to when Sandisk sends me the new one.
