Create Safepoint-Drive "Discovers" Laptop, needs Usernam/PW?

While using the WD software, I read about “Safepoints” and decided one shout be created.

First, I clicked “Backups”, then “Create”, It shows My Book Live, then points to “DISCOVER”

I click Discover, and it immeiatly finds “TOSHIBALAP” (At first it only found “Workgroup”, but then I set the “Homegroup” to no password required, now, it finds the Laptop.

I click the Laptop in order to create the “SafePoint”, BUT am then asked for Username & Password.

BUT:  I have NEVER created a Username or password for this laptop.  I have tried admin/admin admin/password, etc.

When setting up the PC, I intentionally set it up with NO PASSWORD, etc. as it is at home with only my access, so I did not want the hassle of security all the time. (The Network(Wireless) is totally secured, and those credentials were tried also)

Also, The WD software will NOT ALLOW the credentials fields to be blank. When logging into the PC, I leave it blank.

I HAVE NO CLUE, how to access the PC via the drive, in order to create this “Safepoint”

A call to WD, first suggested I Restore the drive to stock, BUT, I am sure that is totally incorrect, and this same problem will occure, as it is the PC it is trying to access, I can access the drive with no problem.

SO, BOTTOM-LINE:  I need a Username/p/w for access to the laptop, which was never set up, so what could it be looking for.

PLEASE ANY IDEAS OR THOUGHTS ARE WELCOME.

Best Regards,

Jeff

Mate you are in the wrong forum, you need to go to Network Drives

Very Sorry.  I know the feeling as I MOD on another forum and always wonder how people mess it up, when it’s written plain and simple, but, I just clicked “My Book Live”, and went from there, THOUGHT, I was in Networked drives.

My appologies and will repost,

Jeff

PS:  Mod  Please feel free to delete this post as I will re-post in the proper area
