How do I reformat a corrupted MD for MAC from circa 2015. It has plenty of room on it for my files.

Thanks for responding. I tried erasing/reformatting using the disc utility on my MAC. Got a failure message no matter what I tried. Decided to buy a new external drive.
A Seagate this time.
