Connection of MyBook Live on PC

I’m guessing this has been covered elsewhere but I’ll ask the question again.

Since the MyBook Live is unsecure, is there any way of accessing the external hard drive on the PC without the need for ethernet cables? Additionally, My PC periodically has an issue with picking up the EHD through the ethernet cable too. Can anyone please advise?
