Compatibility With MacBook, OS-X and iTunes

I’m considering a Fuze + but have heard conflicting opinions about whether I can use it with my iTunes library on MacBook running OS-X Version 10-5-8.

I understand that Video may be out of the question, but what about my iTunes audio library?

Thanks,

Rob

itunes audio will work but only if it is drm free. if the file extension is .m4a the files will work if it is .m4p it is drm protected and will not play on the Fuze+

Thanks, Dr.Lucky!

O.K.

The time has come to display the full length and breadth of my ignorance.

Thought I knew how to do this, but it’s been a long time and apparently not.

How do I tell if my iTune files are .m4p or .m4a, and IF they are .m4p, is there a way to convert them to m4a, or do I just right off the Fuze +??

Thanks again,

Rob

Unless something has changed, you will also need to put your player in MSC mode instead of the default MTP mode.  MTP doesn’t work on OS-X (somebody please correct me if I’m wrong.)

Some people have reported problems with playlists with the player in MSC mode, and you will lose out on seamless integration of player main memory and card slot memory (only when navigating from the computer…the device itself, I believe, continues to provide seamless integration), and database refresh may be a little slower, but probably reasonable.  Other than that, I don’t think you’ll miss out on much by having the player in MSC mode.

there are a few different way but the easiest is probably to right click the song in iTunes and select "get info"at the bottom of the summery tab it will say “where” with the path to the file. st the end of the path you will see the file name and the extension. if it is m4p you can convert it but you have to pay an additional fee if i remember correctly.  or you can burn it to a cd and then re-rip it but you will likely loose the id3 tag info and have to enter that manually.
