My Clip Zip keeps freezing up. I have used the power off for 20 seconds to reset it, but the freeze up keeps repeating. Is it possible to reload the software or do I need to get myself ready to return it?
The overwheming majority of ‘freeze-ups’ are caused by improper format or otherwise un-decypherable ID3 tags in one of more of the music or audio files on the player. It’s rarely the fault of the player.
Is there a convenient app to easily determine which mp3 has the bad tag that is cuasing the crash? I’m having the same issue.
Unplug it, and then press the power button up and hold it for 15-20 seconds. Then go into the Clips settings menu and format it. Try again. If the same thing happens try switching the USB mode To MSC, and drag and drop your files.
Also note that formatting may not be necessary if you correct your tags.
I took a look at the MP3 Tag software, and when I went to download it, it triggered a warning from my Norton 360 saying that the Web site was a malicious site that would load a drive-by download onto your computer.

You probabaly clicked on one of the ad link on that site instead of the actual program download. MP3Tag has no malicious programming in it that would trigger your A/V software.
Here’s the direct link:
