Clip Sport-cant "drag and drop" in Linux Mint 13

My OS is Linux Mint 13 (Maya),OS recognises the MP3 player and names it “clip sport”,I can navigate the folders fine, but when I try to drag and drop I get an error Message: Error creating directory: Read-only file system,Permissions are set where they should be.

As Root,I get “The Destination is read only”

Thanks

This works fine under Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

What version of MTP are you using? You may need to update (MTP or Mint).

LM 13 is = Ubuntu 12.04LTS

Not sure on version of MTP,How would I check?

I use frequently a Coby MP3 player and Seagate ext drive, and have never had issues of copying/transfering files back and forth.

Try this:

    apt-cache policy mtp-tools

On Ubuntu 14.04.1 (64-bit), I have:  1.1.6-20-g1b9f164-1ubuntu2

or see:

john@john-T5248 ~ $ apt-cache policy mtp-tools mtp-tools: Installed: (none) Candidate: 1.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 Version table: 1.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 0 500 [http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/](http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/) precise-updates/main i386 Packages 1.1.3-1 0 500 [http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/](http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/) precise/main i386 Packages

I will install this weekend,Let you know how it goes,THX for help…

MTP installed:

john@john-T5248 ~ $ apt-cache policy mtp-tools mtp-tools: Installed: 1.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 Candidate: 1.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 Version table: \*\*\* 1.1.3-1ubuntu0.1 0 500 [http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/](http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/) precise-updates/main i386 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 1.1.3-1 0 500 [http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/](http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/) precise/main i386 Packages

Still recieving same error message:“Error creating directory: Read-only file system”.

The comand I gave only tells you what version of MTP you are running.

I think you may need to upgrade Mint, and the issus is more likely (now that I think about it more) to be with the USB-storage-device handling. T_hat said, I have had no issues with either my two SanDisk Clip Sports (or earlier Sansa Clip Zips) with Ubuntu 13.10 or 14.04 …_
