Categorizing files

Hello,

How long should I expect Smartware to take to categorize my files before I can do a backup?

I’m using a My Book Essential 2TB to back up my MacPro which has about 875GB to back up.

It’s been about 2 days so far, but the front light is only blinking slowly on the My Book Essential.

I thought that slow blinking meant standby and fast blinking meant it was working on something.

The striped bar on the home page of Smartware is moving like it’s working on something.

Nevermind.

I uninstalled Smartware, reformatted the drive using disk utility and am now using Carbon Copy Cloner.

You will need to go to the backup tab to see if it’s backing up

Using another software is the next option as you just did

You can try Time Machine
