Can't modify / add / delete files to the HD

Hello!

I have bought both my MacBook Air and WD My Passport for Mac 1TB about 3 years ago and I have never had any problems up to now. I can see all the documents and files that are on my HD but I can’t make any changes. When I first plug it into my Mac, it takes a few minutes until my Mac recognizes it and the message "macOS can’t repair the disk “My Passport for Mac” “You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can” (which is wrong) with a red circle appears.
I have tried the WD Drive Utilities and it didn’t help. Is there anything I could do to be able to modify the files I have on my HD?
Of course I don’t want to format my HD because I don’t have a new one to transfer the files to and I can’t buy a new one right now.
Thank you!

Hello vagnersiqueira,

It is possible that you corrupted some of the files on the drive. If so, then you are left with only reformatting. Please make sure that you are not just pulling the cable without safely removing the drive.

Hello

I was saving something into it, it said it was full and after that it didn’t allow me to make any changes!

Try all possible means to copy or backup your WD drive. If you get success in copying data from it then go ahead and format the drive.
