Can't delete corrupted file folder on WD 500 passport

I am using a 500 Passport to write audio files to. No problem for 1 month. Software crashes in mid session, files not saved. I restore machine and try to open files, "FIles are corrupt " message.  Attempted recovery with Piriform product, message: “files are corrupt, cannot recover”. Try to delete them after attempting recovery, message:“Cannot delete, files corrupt”.

WTH do I do now?

When data corruption levels are deep enough to prevent basic disk drive functions from being completed, then completely formatting and erasing the volume should be considered. Instructions to format/partition the disk drive are available in the following link:
