Can't connect my passport ultra to my macbook air

Can somebody help please, I have just got a macbook air and a passport ultra to keep my files on and plug them into my TV, I have downloaded them onto my passport but they don’t come up when I have plugged them into my TV. I have read it is because it is apple - I have downloaded Paragon but when it asked for my product key (which I have no clue where to get that from) and my serial number it would not work the serial number stops after I have put the first two letters in, I think it is because that microsoft is for older macs?? I would like to download one where I dont have to pay too. Please can somebody help!

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.

Have you check what formats supports your TV?

Perhaps, your TV supports FAT 32 or HFS+ and you can reformat the drive to make it compatable with the Mac and the TV.

Hi thank you for your reply, yes it supports my TV as we have borrowed one from a friend before to watch a film. I think it is because apple isn’t like windows… to be honest I really don’t understand this kind of thing but is there a way I can download microsoft onto my mac?

Thanks again for your reply!

What I’m asking is, if your TV supports a external hard drive formatted for Mac (HFS+) or formatted for both systems

(FAT-32)? If it does, you can try reformatting the drive into FAT32 and that will allow you to use the drive on windows and Mac and if the TV does read that format, you can use the drive on the TV as well.

Now, regarding uploading a windows on a Mac, do a quick search online and you should be able to find a few options that should help.
