Cannot retrieve on Win8

Hi
Did a back up from Vista, and need to transfer files to a new computer windows 8.
I can see the files to extract if I go in though the My PC. This would take days to do one at a time. 

However if I open My Passort through WD software, it shows 300GB on the external HD but I cannot retrive them. I click the tab and nothing shows in the volume so I cannot select anything to retreive.

Hi and welcome to the WD community.

If the backup was made with the same software, then you should be able to retrieve the files, however if the backup was manually made by dragging and dropping then you will have to manually copy the files.
