I plan to load it with a bunch of 1080p and 4k movies and connect it to my Android box (Xiaomi Mi Box). Will it read it?

Should work … but it depends on what format and hdd capacity the Xiaomi Box is compatabile with.
I have a 4TB My Passport Ultra works fine with my S905X Amlogic Android 6.0 Box (but i’m running LibreELEC Kodi booting from SD Card … 1080p and 4K play great with Auto Refresh Rate switching, 24p & 60p smooth as butter)
