Can i downgrade firmware R201 to R112

Hi SSD lovers.

I have tried two sandisk SSD Extreme 240 gb , with firmware R201 under linux and they both fails.

Can not install ubuntu 12.4 , and i get a lots of errors in dmesg. I own a older firmware R112 and it works

flawless…

Does anyone have a R112 firmware iso link , or am I the only one having trouble with R201 and linux…

/Best Michael

R112 is not availble via ISO download. it only shipped on the drive. There have not been any reports of issues with R201 on Linux. What error messages are you getting? have you tried using a partition tool to delete and recreated the partitions? you could also try secure erasing the drive and see if that helps.

  Hi DrLucky.

  >>have you tried using a partition tool to delete and recreated the partitions?

I have used both parted and fdisk…

The Funny Thing on two different drives is that i can not install ubuntu… When it has finished the Installation it won’t boot.

  >>you could also try secure erasing the drive and see if that helps.

How to do the secure erase ???

Here is a little dump from dmesg…

You will need a tool to do secure erase. HDD erase is a free one but I do not know if there is a Linux version. Can any other OS be installed to the disk successfully? And can you post your computer specs?

http://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/The_Analysis_of_Drive_Issues

Have you tried different cables or checked your power supply? I do not have a lot of Linux experience but I looked up the errors and the article above says these errors are usually cable or power related.

Hi Again…

For 3 weeks ago i have used the same disk with R112 in the exact same computer.

This is the second disk which fails , and the failure is within 30-60 minutes.

The computer plus cables is working properly , as my first Sandisk was installed in the

computer for a week without any problems.

But shouldn’t the sandisk SSD Extreme drive work out of the box

Hi Again…

A little update. A working Sandisk SSD Extreme on a Intel DG33FB motherboard is not working

out of the box.

What i had been through the last 2 days was a true nightmare.

I have reflashed the firmware in my Sandisk to the same version R201.

After this process , my motherboard wasn’t able of booting anything , even my old harddrive.

So I reflashed my motherboard BIOS… Clear CMOS , pulled out the Batteri , wait 5 min.

Set up the BIOS to ACHI again loaded optimat setting. I then installed kubuntu 12.4 on the sandisk

, and after the installation it hangs.

Reflashed my Motherboard BIOS again , same step all over… And I’m now running on the sandisk in my

motherboard. And guest what , no errors the last 24 hours

Besides that i lost my boot sector on my old harddrive , damned.

Cables in my case wasn’t the problem , no difference at all. And my Antec PSU earthwatt 380 was also fine.
