Cable to Connect HD to Mac

Please help me specify the correct cable to connect a Model No: WD10EADS-65L5B1 Caviar Green HD to a 2018 Mac Mini. I don’t have a schematic showing the ports on the HD, and I can’t specify the cables because I don’t recognize any of the ports.

You need an AC Powered 3.5" SATA USB Enclosure.

Don’t buy a SATA USB Adaptor … they don’t come with a Power Supply, which you need to power a 3.5" Hard Drive.

Is this some sort of joke, Joey? I am asking about cables and you’re telling me to get an enclosure. It’s in an enclosure. With a power cable. I need a cable to connect it to a Mac. Send me a port schematic or specify the correct cable, so I know which cable to purchase.

no, a communication issue

googling the model number you provided … WD10EADS Caviar Green

It’s a bare hard drive with no enclosure.

Then provide the Model Number of the Enclosure, not the Internal Hard Drive.

The USB cables are fine for laptop disks, desktop disks need a powered enclosure.

I have USB cables for type-a and type-c for laptop disks

I also have a usb stick, 1TB with usb-c and usb-a for moving files around

I submitted a pic of HD that clearly shows the model number. If you look at the resources I sent, you might provide a more useful service. You do know you’re in customer service, right? Now I’ve got two of you brainiacs telling me to put the HD in an enclosure. If you learned to read, you would see that I am asking for a port schematic to specify the port on the HD side of the cable. You remember, the one I am trying to purchase to attach the HD to the Mac. Here’s what we know so far: The Mac uses a USB-C. Now, all we need are descriptions of the ports on the HD to specify the other end of the cable. Get it yet? Jeez. Do I have to draw up an algorithm?

This is not helpful. A Mac Mini is not a laptop. The HD is already in an enclosure. What words do I have to use to get you to describe the ports on the HD so I can specify the HD side of the cable? I really don’t need help describing the Mac side USB-C cable.

I have a USB-C box to 4x USB-C for my MacBook so I can use USB storage etc

I also have a dock box for my MacBook with more ports

What are you talking about? Is that all you can do is talk about the Mac side of the cable? When are you going to describe the WD HD side of the cable? You’re either being purposely obtuse or should be fired for being too dense to do this job.

This is your HD. Please label the ports in the attached image:

Make it a great day.

In this photo I see a mini-USB close to the power which connects to the machine. Then there is a eSATA port and above that are 3 IEEE 1394 ports.

I use 1394 with video equipment so I have several PCIe cards on hand to be able to connect cameras etc.

Thanks, Vegan…that was like pulling teeth.
