I have WD MyBook predecessor (Caviar 3TB) with a broken case controller (PCR), resulting in the fact that the data is still available on the hard drive but can’t be decrypted anymore. I had the idea of buyingan identical case with a SYMWAVE SW6316 decryption chip and was wondering:
(1) if anyone has ever tried decrypting data with a different case and
(2) if you would know how to get a hold of an enclosure with such a specific chip as I couldn’t yet find any online.
WD did not come back to me on this issue after several days…
