Best backup option advice

So, I am using a sony laptop running W8.1 which wirelessly connects to a Sky router.  If I copy 1Gb to my NAS, it takes around 15-20 minutes.  I don’t want my computer nor my router clogged up with constantly sending this data so am not sure the best backup option.  The Smartware continuous mode seems helpful but when I add/alter/delete 1Gb of photos, is this giong to slow everything to a crawl?

Am I better doing a scheduled scan?  My concern with that is that I would have over 100Gb of photos, will it try and save all of this everytime it does a backup as that would seem to take hours/days?  Am I better just using a simple Powershell script which only saves newer versions to be quicker?

Any advice gratefully received.

Markhad,

After the first backup is created on either “Continuous” or “Scheduled” mode, WD SmartWare will proceed to add only new files or files that have been modified since the last backup, and will not start over.

This means that the second backup onwards may take only seconds to be completed depending on the amount of data to be added.
