Battery permanently showing 100%

I’m using a Clip and all of a sudden my battery meter/icon is showing 100% all the time, even when I know that it can’t possibly be. I am using Rockbox but it is the same in the sansa firmware bootup and rockbox bootup.

Has anyone heard of this happening? Is my Clip dying?

I have never heard of this happening…very interesting! All I can think is to let it run a long time, like 10-12 hours…in the Sansa firmware that would just about use all the battery…then see if it still reads 100%. I’m assuming you’ve tried resetting it?

I’m following your advice and letting the battery run out.

I haven’t tried resetting it, how do I do that?

Holding the power button down for anywheres from 20 seconds to over a minute, basically as long as it takes it to shut itself off.  I would go ahead and give that  try first, actually.

A recalibration of the battery gauge may be needed–letting the battery discharge and then recharging it will do that.
