Battery Life Expectancy

I just started using my FiiO E-5 amplifier and am wondering two things.

What is the battery life expectancy in terms of hours between charges

and also how many years should I expect to get out of it before a new

one will be necessary.

It seems like I only got a short amount of time out of the first usage…

possibly an hour and a half to 2 1/2.  Is this common?   Does volume you

use have any bearing on the length of charge?

Len

I believe the “rated” playback time is 20 hours. Did you initially charge it fully before you started to use it? I’ve never run mine all the way dead, but I charge frequently.

Since you use it with your Clip, I would just charge them at the same time. The lifespan of the internal batteries should be similar too.

I thought I did charge it fully.   I will make sure it is this time and let you know

how it goes.

I’m sure that I got no where near 20 hours.    4 at most.

Just wondering…it’s possible that I left it on after using it the last time.

Do they turn themselves off automatically like the Clip does or is that up to

the user?

Nope, the E5 has to be shut off by the user. Hold the button until the light goes out.

Well goooooolllllllly…that’s probably the culprit…I’m an ■■■■■…lol.

I think that was Gomer Pyle’s line! :smileyvery-happy:

The E5, fully charged, should run in step with the Sansa Clip, all day long.  Its output device is a clean Texas Instruments OP amp, I believe.  I use the E5 every day to boost the output of the e200 a wee bit for speakers at work.

Running with headphones, I like the bass boost position.

The FiiO comes with a longer Mini-B cable, allowing it to charge while operating if need be.  The charge light will glow purple in this mode, as the red + blue LEDS are both on.

I sometimes forget to hold the power button long enough to power OFF, finding it still on hours later, with a few hours of runtime remaining.
