Just bought the clip plus and noticed whenever I connect it via USB to my PC to upload files etc, the clip’s battery automatically starts recharging. Will regular short cycles of battery charging affect my battery life? I assume there is no way to just connect the clip to the PC without having the battery recharge at the same time?
The processor in the Sansa manages the battery automatically. The battery is a lithium-polymer unit, and is quite happy being routinely “topped up” when connected to power, just like a car battery.
The nickel-cadmium battery of the past is probably the most familiar to most users. These batteries would develop a “memory” unless routinely discharged. The new battery likes being charged, and it’s best to allow it to charge when plugged in.
You cannot overcharge the Sansa’s battery; in fact, the charging process is actually turned off by the processor once done, rather then “trickle charging”.
Bob, thankyou for your explanation.
