Hello - Hope I’m in the right place with this one
I’ve recently bought a WD My Book Elite 1TB and a WD My Passport Essential SE 640GB
As soon as either devices are attached to the lap top I am confronted with the ‘blue screen of death’. Message reads ‘BAD HEADER POOL’
Lap top is Toshiba Satellite A100 - PSAA9A - 10U038 running XP Pro SP3
As far as I’m aware all the latest updates have been installed.
Not sure what else I can include here that may help.
Any help appreciated.

Same exact problem every single time the HD is connected. Anyone have any ideas before I take it back to the store?
I just corrected this problem this evening. Go to this website:
http://www.wdc.com/wdproducts/updates/?family=wdsmartwareutilities
Update the firmware and disable the virtual drive software by following the instructions and dowloading 2 updates. Unfortunately it becomes just an external storage device with no backup software, but that was OK with me, at least it works now.
