I use the file/folder option of Smartware to do continuous backup. I have a file which contains a Truecrypt encrypted volume. Smartware backs up the file once, but refuses to back it up again, even though (as well as the file contents changing) the last date modified is updated and the archive bit is set on for this file set (via scripts, to allow other, non-continuous, backup software to backup up the Truecrypt file). I read the post from Danielbee (03-02-2012) and the pointer from the reply he received, however they do not throw any light on this issue. What are the criteria used by Smartware to determine if a file needs to be backed up? DeWrek
Hello,
What is the extension of the files?
Check the link below for a detailed list of extensions supported by WD Smartware.
Thanks for the response - please accept my apologies for not checking back earlier. I checked the exclusion list, and as far as I can see none of the exclusion rules applies. To answer you question, the file does not have a type - the file name is “Data”, and it is not on a system drive or boot partition. The backup mode is folder, continuous. The SmartWare Backup tab shows the folder and file with ticks. The file was backed up once, when SmartWare first started, but has not been backed up since. I even tried deleting it from the Backup tab, then re-instating it, however that had no effect. I don’t think I mentioned before that the OS is Win7 64 bit. Any help gratefully received! DeWrek
