Automatic backup ambiguity on passport?

When certain prerequisites are fulfilled, backup is automatic.

The prerequisites are of course that the computer is turned on and running the installed software and that the drive is connected via a functioning USB port. All of this is understood.

The software installed ‘WD Quick View’ as an automatic start item. On both, my computer and my wife’s computer, this program crashed during boot up.

Both of our backups still work fine after we disabled ‘WD Quick View’ as an automatic start.

We usually just run ‘WD Smart Ware’ after boot up and keep it open.

The questions are:

  1. Does ‘WD Quick View’ initialize the automatic backup which was was set up properly in ‘WD Smart Ware’ during previous window sessions?

  2. Will it keep it the backup going even when ‘WD Smart Ware’ is not manually started again?

  3. Do we need to run ‘WD Smart Ware’ and keep it open to keep our backups going?

  4. Is ‘WD Quick View’ required to be running in the background or can it stay disabled?

  5. If neither ‘WD Quick View’ or ‘WD Smart Ware’ is started manually in a widows session, will the backup previously initiated backup process still run automatically?

The software will work on the background all the time

If you don’t run the software, there’s a tool that works categorizing and backing up the files in the background

WD Quick View does not have much to do with that
