Attach WD My Book 2TB to Shaw Direct HDPVR

I checked the WD site and they had some specific models WDBABT0010HBK that were used to connect to a PVR. Will a standard 2TB unit like WDBFJK0020HBK work OK - will need to get a cable convertor from USB 3 to eSATA to connect to the PVR?

No idea what was specific about the DVR models - maybe the cable?
