Artist names in MP3 tags capping to 16 characters on Fuze

Minor malfunction on the Fuze - I recently noticed that some of the MP3 files I have on my Fuze display truncated versions of artist names, even though the tags display OK on my computer. On Fuze, SOME but not all MP3 files have a maximum of 16 characters for the viewed artist name. Odd.

I wonder if I can do something to tag them Fuze-compatible.

Fuze displays artists on Vorbis files in full form, and even some MP3 files, but most of the MP3s I’ve recently encoded with Foobar2000 display clipping on my Fuze.

Examples:

Band name Zacharias Carls Group displays as “Zacharias Carls”

“Apoptygma Berzerk” becomes “Apoptygma Berzer”

“Echo & the Bunnymen” becomes an amusing “Echo & the Bunny”

In some cases, this clips the artist’s production in two, when some files display the full name while others just the first 16 letters.

Strange, minor, but any ideas as to a solution?

Are your .mp3 ID3 tags in the ID3v2.3 ISO-8859-1 format?

definitely an encoding issue.  I hit this myself.   I think the issue is the songs truncating the Artist to 16  characters is ID3v2.4 UTF-8.  if you search the forum, there’s a couple other threads on it.

^^This is what you want. ISO is the format Sansas are optimized for.
