My 1 GB My Passport hard drive says that it is unlocked on my desktop computer. Can I change the (forgotten) password without reformatting (I have reformatted once and reloaded already)? If so, how?
I’m OK with reformatting if I have to, but prefer not to do it again if I don’t have to.
Either way, obviously, I can’t figure out how to do it.
Thanks,
Pat
Hello,
There is no way to change the password without knowing the current one. The WD security app requires confirmation of the current password in order to change it.
Pat,
Here is a brilliant idea for you:
Keep a list of all your passwords in a file on your computer that is password-protected. This way you only need to remember the one password for that file and have access to all your other passwords…
Thanks. I was hoping I could go on without reformatting again but if I must, I must.
Thanks.
I actually do have a cheat sheet, so to speak, with my passwords but for some reason I forgot to add this one to it. Live and learn.
