A Way To Increase Volume

Thanks folks for the help.   I just ordered the E5 from Ebay…$17.99 with free shipping.

They say it’s 3 - 5 day shipping.   I will let you know how long it took when it gets here.

Regards,

Len

Well, actually it took quite a while to get here even though I ordered on Ebay.

Still came from somewhere in Asia…lol.

Anyway, it got here on Mon. 29th.

I’m basically happy with it but I’d like it to amplify a bit more.   It does a nice job

and I can hear all the words now…even with my lousey hearing.

Thanks for all the help.

Len

Hmmm . . . there’s a question. I don’t have two to try it with, but what would happen if you used 2 amps in series?

Player > 1st amp > 2nd amp > headphones. Would the 2nd amp boost the signal given to it from the 1st amp, which is already boosted or amplified?

And if this does work, how many amps in series could you rig up like this, I wonder? And what would the power and/or volume output result be?

Make sure your Clip volume is near maxed and the EQ is on Normal, and control your volume with the E5. That should give you all the volume you need.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Marvin, that’s the way I’ve got it set up and it’s adequate.  Overall I’m happy with it.

It’s for a workout and I can hear the tunes to that’s the point I guess.   I’m like a kid in

that I’m always looking of more volume.   That’s why my hearing sucks to begin with…lol.

You’ve probably set your Region to Europe which applies a gov’t.-mandated volume restriction. Luckily, there is a way around it. Reset your Factory Defaults and it will ask you again to choose your Region , This time, select Rest of World (or North America). You will now have your High volume option back in the Settings menu.

Don’t forget the volume rocker switch on the side to raise or lower the volume. These things will blast your ears out, so be careful!

ok mate ? how do i do a reset lol…im still trying to work out how i change from 1 alburn to the next…

You didn’t say what model of Clip you have. I’m assuming it’s the Clip+, although there is also the Clip (original) and Cip Zip models.

On the Clip+, go to Settings > System Settings > Reset Factory Settings > Yes. Note all options are not visible in the little screen on the player. You will have to scroll (up or down) to find and select all options.

Note also this is different from a regular (and frequently talked about) reset. This is where you hold down the power button for 20-30 seconds, release, then restart. This is a main system reset, and can/should be used if the player ever freezes up or fails to respond to button presses, or otherwise acts wonky.

Resetting the “Factory Settings” changes your personal settings and the USB mode back to the way it was when it came from the factory. This is why (and how) you can change the Region settings. After doing this, you will also have to reapply your personal settings, like Backlight, power save mode, sleep timer, FM presets and the like.

Good for you! If you have the Clip+ model, the latest firmware is 01.02.16. You can find it here:

http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/Sansa-Clip-Sansa-Clip/Sansa-Clip-Firmware-Update-01-02-16/m-p/150227/highlight/true#M31277

V01.02.09 is also for the Clip+, but is an older fw version. I would update to the .16 release, manually applying it following the directions in the linked-to post.
.

V01.01.35 is for the original (hardware version 1) Clip, a different model and will not work if you have a Clip+ or Zip.

more problems…now i think i have got the wrong FW in the player…

it will not let me do carnt do a fatory reset on the player in the menu…

the updater software dont work on my windows 7 so thats no good…

ive put music on the player in alburms and you carnt find them in the player menu no matter where you look :(…

i think im sending it back …ant spending any more time on this…

@dreww wrote:

Impossible. The player will only accept the firmware desgned for that particular model. You cannot install the wrong firmware on it, even if you wanted to.

In youy last post, things seemed to be working OK, what happened?

@dreww wrote:

Don’t use the Updater. It will only update the firmware. If you have the latest, but there’s a corruption problem or other reason you want to re-apply in the firmware, it won’t work. That’s why I advised manually installing it.

Do you have an “Unknown” artist in the Muisc menu? If you select this, is your ‘missing’ music there? Thses things sort and display the infirmation contained in the ID3 tags of the music files. If your music doesn’t have tags, or they are the wrong format, etc. it doesn’t know what to do with the information it cannot read, so lumps it together under an “Unknown” heading.

Have you read the User’s Guide? It will explain and instruct you on many of the basic function of these players.

ok mate thanks for the help …

hee is wat i did first i put the FW on the player by way of just draging it …the FW i put on lol was vol1.01.35 and that gave me the higyh volume :)…then i check and see that i thinks i put the rong one on lol …

Well, there’s your problem, or at least part of it. MP4 is a multimedia format and is not supported on the Clip+. Maybe those are the ones with the lyric embedded. Youy’ll have to find those and remove them. I wouldn’t try doing it on the player though, they’re likely to freeze it up.

Connect your player to your computer and navigate to the Music folder/directory on the player in Windows Explorer. Then do a Search for *.mp4. This should return all files with this file extension so you can delete them.

Sorry i got the files rong that i carnt find an delet …they are mpeg layer3 mp3 winamp file

god now i carnt get the player to conecet to the pc lol …? wouldent be cuz i took the player updater out the pc??

got go find that now an install it again lol …

i have big problems now with geting the player to sink with the computer…

tryed all sorts an it trys and then switchs off and just keeps doing it over an over…

its a usb driver problem…and i carnt seem to find a driver for it …windows carnt find one :frowning:

doing my head in now …i never had all this crap with my creative muvo …that worked right out the box…

well if i carnt get it to work its no good ill send it back.

:frowning:

update …well ive been trying all night to get the clip to sync with computer and it will not …

tred everythink i can think of and it looks as if the player is knackerd big time …all that hapens is it trys to sync with pc then off …

what comes up saying on the pc when i plug it in is …usb device is not reconized and has malfunctioned windows does not reonize it …:frowning:

ill try send it back and get my money back an get somert else…

thing is it will not even charge up now lol…so its no good for the bin …

 :(

well i got up today and siad to my self befor i email where i got the player from ill just try it again on the computer…

well it worked this time lol so i maniged to put about 20 pluss mp3 alburms on the player…

but the thing is the player was disconnecting most of the time from the computer…

i dont no if its maybe becouse the player is fully charged or what…anyway im playing it now and going to try run the battery down some …then try again in the computer and hope…

so the player is ok just got problems with the computer side now…

maybe a plugin the wall charger is the way to go? or dose it not connect to the PC when fully charged ???

No, the player always should connect to the computer, whatever the charge level.

I wonder:  have you tried a different USB cable, and/or a different USB port?  Also, when there are connection problems, it sometimes can help to de-authorize the Clip under the computer’s operating system and then to plug in again, forcing the computer to set things up anew.
