does not switch off / go to standby when the Notebook goes to hibernation and when it shuts off. How could I make the drive standing by.

I would say, as the drive is running like it runs when the Notebook is running the LED behaves like the drive is running.

When you touch the drive does it feel like is still spinning? The reason I ask is because WD Drives tend to look like they are online when they are receiving power from a USB port.

Sorry, I am not quite sure to understand correctly. The drive is running, switched on, working. So, it is not shut off, turned off, switched off. So, it is spinning.

This drive should not look like it would be running / online when the computer being connected to it is shut off, the drive should be like it would be when completely turned off, no spinning, no LED, etc.
