1TB My Book Essential power/computer issue

I have had my 1 TB My Book Essential for a few years now.  All of a sudden my computer has stopped recognizing it.

I plug it into the wall and the blue light flashes, but does not sound like it is running.  When I connect it to my computer, my computer, (laptop) does not pick it up.  I have tried it on another computer and the same thing, it does not pick it up.

Is there anything I can do to get it to start working or get my computer to recognize it?  I have alot of things saved on it and would be at a loss if I can not recover what is on the hard drive.

Have you tried using a different cable? Do you have another power cord that you can use?

Yes, i have two different power cords and a few different usb cords.  I’ve tried all of them and still not luck.  I did try the cables on different usb ports on my computer and another computer that I have.
