1 TB external makes siren noise when plugged in

Hi,

Over the weekend my 1 TB WD hard drive fell off my desk and hit the floor. And now when I plug it in, the hard drive whirls on and sounds like a police siren. The white light blinks and the drive mounts and then dismounts. 

I figure it’s less expensive to by and new drive and start over, but  do I have any other options (i.e… taking it apart)?

It’s probably useless to try anything since it’s been dropped. Disassembly and repair isn’t really a do it yourself project. You don’t have anything to loose unless you are considering professional recovery.
