stuck on disconnect

I tried to connect a new Sansa fuze to an Acer laptop using Windows XP. Sometimes the computer recognized the device and sometimes not. I went to disconnect it and it is stuck on disconnect, I can’t do anything with it, I can’t turn it off. Did it just self destruct? Did I kill it? Anyone have any ideas ?

When it is disconnected, hold the power slider in the up position for at least 20 seconds. That should reset the player.

Sorry, I know this is an old thread. It’s now 2010 and your advice still helped. How often does info from 2008 still fix things? Sometimes I guess. Thanks so much!
