Screen off during record at interval selected under Settings is normal.
Screen on in response to wheel or button navigation at any point during record should be instantaneous, though. 4 (sic) minutes ?
How much free space do you have on the internal drive? (Figure about 170 MB of internal drive space required each hour for a voice recording.)
