Sansa Fuze Firmware Update

no new wallpapers…

pass

Track number tags aren’t fixed and no new tags in the menu?

Pass as well. But I still appreciate sansa for finally reasing an update.

What’s your particular problem with track numbers?

It would be nice if the Fuze read 1/12, 2/12 -style track numbers, but I’m not losing any sleep over it, since mp3tag takes seconds to add leading zeros.

The firmware update hasn’t helped with the issue I’m seeing.

I have a 16gb micro sd card with 70 top-level folders (with sub-folders) of music on it.

The Fuze only sees 33 of those top-level folders.

Looking at the card’s properties through windows explorer there is approx 13 gb being used (5,860 files, 294 folders).

I thought the file limitation was 8,000. Is there also a folder limitation? If so, what is it?

Guess I’ll put the card back into storage until this is fixed.

Tried to change the replay gain settings after upgrading to new firmware and I got the white screen of death. Reset the unit and tried again and the same thing happened.

Well I didn’t encounter any trouble adjusting the replay gain option after the update.Weird indeed.

SR

Still no news regarding the horrible playlist management (most importantly go list does not refresh automatically. that’s just plain silly)…

and still no option to allow playback to pause automatically when disconnected from external power (so auto-shutdown will kick in the moment the device is no longer charging)

boring.

I too have the white screen of death if I try to adjust the replay gain settings.  I have a 4G Fuze, version 2.  REbooted a few times, no change.  I will roll back to previous firmware until this bug is patched, hopefully soon.

And I second the comment above:  no new Wallpapers??  I want to be able to set one of my photos as a Wallpaper.  Hopefully next update?

Yeah that’s my problem lol. My track tags are “1/8” for example and they are read as “18.”

And I don’t want to have to change my whole music collection for something that can easily be fixed on the fuze’s part.

I have just installed the latest upgrade… It looks like the only reason SanDisk issued it is the shortcut to SlotRadio card to promote sales.($39.99)

No text reader, no direct shortcut to a choice between folder and playlist browsing. Very disappointed to say the list.

OK - just noticed: now when I switch the Fuze on it goes to the Radio screen (if I switch it off while listening to the  radio) without refreshing database. That’s good.

Any ideas about bookmarks and textreader in the future? (here I’m going to be annoying… )

P.S. Hm… my shortcut to SlotRadio disappeared without any trace after the reset of the Fuze… How come - I almost got used to it, being bright and red and inviting…

“And I don’t want to have to change my whole music collection for something that can easily be fixed on the fuze’s part.”

You could put the albums on the Fuze and change the tags in the files on the Fuze, right after you transfer them,  in about 2 seconds with mp3tag.  It’s really not a very strenuous workaround.

It’s hard not to see the new slotradio icon. It’s bright red and placed between the music and video icons.

Is it just me or is the radio reception better?

Very annoying the this slot radio has been pushed onto my machine with out my having the option to refuse.   I have no interest in this gimmick and want it off my menu.  Sansa;  I will never buy another one.

Are you kidding me?   I   like the cool red SR icon!   Cool “blurb” mask when the center button is depressed without an SR card mounted too.  Seriously, be glad  that you don’t have that goofball “treasure chest” icon in the main menu.

Personally, I am thinking of adding the lil’ monsta  icon instead of the EQ for "settings.  Hmm, that’s an interesting thought…

Now, let’s pop in a cool jazz SR card.  D’oh!  I’ll have to wait for that one.

Now for the piece de resistance!  Yes!!   Video Resume patch is successful.   You can now zip between video files like before.  Make some popcorn, it’s video time.

The fact that the fuze is not able to read a simple / in a track tag is annoying though. I wouldn’t have a problem doing the process, but that’s not how I organize my files. I use x/x because I know that that track is part of an album with x tracks so if something’s missing, I know the real amount of tracks.

Found another bug or limitation:

In folder view, if a mp3 file name is longer than 80 characters including spaces and file extension, and is non-english (cyrillic in my case) - you’ll get a non-readable mix of squares, tildes, capital english letters and numbers…

Ex:

Любовные истории - Там, на моей стороне Луны - Лучшие песни Русского Радио 9.mp3

Will look like this in fuze’s folder view:

N ~1.MP3

mag1230 - funny you saying about the radio reception getting better. I’ve got the same impression. After rescan the Fuze added a couple of stations I didn’t knew existed.

As to the new and shiny radioslot icon it disappeared with no trace - probably after I reset Fuze to World bandwave.

Alexz - has this distortion appeared AFTER you upgraded firmware or it exists on the previous firmware version as well? I never noticed it as I’m always trying to transcribe Russian names using Latin letters. Actually, if I choose to run my Fuze interface in default English, it can’t read Russian letters at all - never mind 80 digit limitation. Программисты у Сандиска такие…

Agree totally.

Benboy, I initially thought it was a long awaited link to an option to chose between folder and tagrelated browsing… Wishful thinking… :frowning:

I managed to get rid of this unexpected “offer” by setting my radio to the “world” option ( I think ) After the Fuze restarted the flag of the Paris Commune disappeared.
