…please…
This is likely a stupid question.
I’m missing something about ‘gapless’ playback. I read that some players that claim to do it really don’t (worth a hoot) and certainly some do it better than others.
I realize (I think) that correct metadata info (actual song length) has to have been written at encode time if a ‘gapless capable’ player is actually going to PLAY gapless.
So much for what I’ve read about it.
When it actually comes to DOing it…that’s where the ‘missing it’ part comes in.
On my Fuze I have wma files, recorded in VBR format with the quality set to ‘Best’ (240-355kbps it says). WMP version 9.00.00.3364.
I see NOwhere in WMP settings ANYthing about ‘gapless’. I read all over the place that WMP V.9 can provide gapless tags, but…WHERE IS IT??? I see no ‘gapless’ DSP to select and don’t find a plug-in for such on the web. Indeed the ‘Audio DSP’ list is empty. ‘Gapless’ maybe has nothing to DO with processing in the way of a DSP…
Once an album is ripped with ‘gapless’ tags applied, does the Fuze just do it that way? I have yet to find any setting on my Fuze for it…but that may be due to it not having any such encoded music ON it.
The answer is probably right in front of me…but I have this aversion to LOOKING for stuff…so, feel free to deride my intelligence, but please…ONLY if you provide a rather specific ‘how to’ along with!
Thanks, hopefully, for somebody’s patience.
**edit**
I’m looking for a reasonable gapless playback: I say ‘Encode Gapless’ and the Fuze says, ‘No problem!’ I’m NOT looking to hex-edit headers of every song, replacing <space>s with something.
OR…a simple ‘You cannot do ‘gapless’ with VBR.’
That would work, too.
