The Updater is not needed–it simply downloads the latest firmware for your player, which is readily available at the firmware sticky thread at the top of this forum. :) Likewise for the manual.
And with the way the Updater works, you’re actually better off installing firmware updates the manual way. The Updater searches for updates every time you plug in your player. A waste of time and computer resources since there won’t be any more updates for this old of a model.
