Problem Accessing All Folders on MicroSD card

I recently got a Sansa Clip+ because it allows me to use an external card. I have a 32GB Sandisk microSD with about 26GB of music folders on it. The problem is the Clip+ only seems to “see” part of what is on the card, and plays only from those folders\songs it lists when I do a search on the player. When connected to Windows, though, I can see the external card listed and all the folders are there and can be played using media players on the computer. Any ideas what is going on, and how to access all the songs on the Clip+?  Thanks for any help you can provide.

Giving this a soft bump please if any has any tips on how to go over this please. <img src=“https://imagicon.info/cat/5-43/1.gif”/>

How many tracks do you have (in both the internal and card memory combined)? There is a database limitiation of approx, 8,000 tracks (although things like embedded album art and exceptionally long titles, etc. can dramatically reduce this). Sounds like you might have exceeded it?

After less than 1 hour? Really? Hardly necessary. :confounded:

I’m sure it is far more than 8000 tracks, just on the uSDcard ( I have over 26GB of music on it). The player lists approx. 4900 songs\tracks when I set it to play all. (I notice it only goes from A-K in the folder titles; no folders further in the alphabetical listing. Interesting). And the majority of the music folders have album art files; many have long titles as well. Any way around the limitation? If not, I’ll just to rotate folders on and off the player, I guess.

Thanks for the quick response.

Then there’s your problem. There’s no way around the limitation with the factory firmware, but you might want to try Rockbox (alternative, 3rd-party, open-source firmware). It has no such limitation.

I appreciate the information. I will give Rockbox some consideration. Is it reversible if I load that firmware?

Rockbox does not erase the Sansa firmware, so it is reversible.  You can also boot into the Sansa firmware with Rockbox installed–at the moment I don’t remember which button you have to hold, but it’s easy. . Just make sure you follow the directions for Rockbox installation (and uninstallation if need be) and take a look at the instructions.

Just loaded Rockbox:  so far so good, except a glitch with the Recording function.  Best part:  all my files are visible and playable. Thanks for the helpful info. and advice, folks.

Be sure you go through all the themes and choose one that has the looks and displayed information that you want. You can even have several loaded onto the player and switch them at will.
