Charging Voltage for Clip+Options
03-01-2011 06:23 AM Anyone know the maximum permissible DC charging voltage that can be applied to Clip+ without frying it? I'm wondering if I can use the car cable from my (Garmin) GPS which has the same usb connector and supplies 5-8 volts DC.

02-10-2012 08:32 AM Just some information for you all.
The Kindle charger that has the detachable USB cord works fine with the clip. It's 4.9v.
Also, the charger that comes with the T Mobile MyTouch 4G phone and has the detachable charger works. It's 5.0v.
All you have to do is put the standard mini-USB cord that comes with the Clip into either the Kindle or MyTouch charger and away you go.

Anything between 4.9V and 5.1V should be fine. The USB spec is 5.0V. You might be okay with slightly more or less, but IMO it's not worth the risk.
