Sandisk SSD Ultra 2 - 480gb support sata 3 for Acer laptop ?

Hello !

My laptop is Acer Aspire 5738zg.

When i start SSD Dashboard it;s written that is 3gb/s SATA2

Does my laptop support 6gb/s SATA 3?

Hello,

in that case if the dashboard detects that it has a connectivity of SATA 2 then you will be limited to this speed and there is no way to update the motherboard of the computer

SSD Dashboard is sayng that: For best performance conect SSD to 6,0 Gb/s capable port. Where is that port ? Is there a other options?

I found this:

  1. Intel® ICH9 SATA 6.0 Gbps Device Detection
Problem: Intel® ICH9 may not be able to complete SATA Out Of Band (OOB) Signaling with SATA
6.0 Gbps Devices and down shift to SATA 3.0 Gbps speed.
Implication: ICH9 may not detect SATA 6.0 Gpbs Devices upon power up or resume from S3, S4 or
    S5 State.
    Workaround: None.
    Status: No Plan to Fix.

But I don’t know what is S3, S4 or S5 state.

Hello,

since there is no work around or any plan to fix this there is no way of you to update the motherboard. So you will still have to use the drive on the SATA II port with a limited speed.

This will not influence the drive or the computer in any negative way so you shall not worry about it

Thank you for the help

You are welcome

Apple now support TRIM for 3rd party drives but you must enable it in the OS.
