new setup

The HDD in my dell Studio 1558 just died and I’m getting a 240GB Sandisk SSD plus to replace it. I don’t plan on using another storage device, as I won’t use it for much else other than web browsing and Word. Can someone give me any suggestions to properly set it up? I have not yet decided whether I will use Windows 7, 8, or 10. Is it really going to be as easy as pop in the new drive and install a clean version of Windows?

Thanks,

David

Just install HDD and install OS,But if you have it in the BIOS.Setup to install as AHCI.

Other than that,Your good to go.

And be sure you install SanDisk Dashboard software,So you can monitor your ssd’a performance.

I’ll remember that. What is AHCI? (Hoping I’m not about to “get in over my head.”)

Here is what it is:

The Advanced Host Controller Interface ( AHCI ) is a technical standard defined by Intel that specifies the operation of Serial ATA (SATA) host bus adapters in a non-implementation-specific manner.
