Thanks for emailing the firmware… the upgrade went flawlessly and I now see 2700 songs on my playlist (the number of songs I have). Since I just randomly shuffle them all and have no need to sort them in any fashion the 1.28 firmware suits me just fine. 
It’s amazing in 2016 that Sandisk makes the only really acceptable reasonably priced MP3 player… Apple still charges out the rear end and other generic players either lack micro sd slots, acceptable memory capacity, or they do silly things like not have volume buttons, or have overly complicated menus.
