Recording Radio

One of the reasons I chose the Clip model was its advertised ability to record off the radio.  I can’t find the option.  Manual says to press “Options” button at (6 o’clock position) and select “recording” but the only options I get are about station presets.  No option for recording.

What am I missing here?  TIA.

PS, although I didn’t really get it for voice recording, I can’t seem to find that option either.

Hello,

As far as i know the firmware that was used for the clip sport is the same as the clip zip so you should be able to see the same options and navigation menu. The thing now for the recording is that the clip sport does not have this option as far as i know so sandisk didnt remove this menu option from it or they will build the feature to a future firmware release.

I have the Zip, Clip+ and Sport… I have 3 because I have a habit of losing them and not finding them again until after I order a new one.  Now I have 3.  The Clip+ has TERRIBLE FM reception, its unusable… and now the Sport doesn’t record FM radio.   The Zip has worse battery life than the Clip+, (probably due to the screen) but since I can actually use the radio it’s what I use.  The Sport can’t replace the Zip because it can’t record FM radio.

I can’t believe they’d take a major feature out of their product line like this.  I’ll be putting reviews on the major sellers sites that say that the clip is an awesome, if not the best, mp3 player you can buy, but if you want to ‘upgrade’ from the Zip or Clip+ you have to know what you’re getting.  I feel duped… just like when I got the Clip+ and found the radio barely worked.

I’ve had no issue with the radio on my Clip+.  And it’s important to know, despite what one might think, that the Sport is NOT an upgrade in the Clip line.  More, it’s like a right-turn branch off the line, for those wanting a longer battery (but losing some other capabilities).

Unfortunately, you are incorrect.  Each of the Clip, Clip+, Clip Zip, and Clip Sport has its own specific firmware and, as users of the various players know, some features are different in each player.  This especially is the case with the Clip Sport, which has significant player limitations compared to the earlier models, due to hardware limitations.  And the firmware for one player model CANNOT be used for another model.

Also, it is unlikely that any further capabilities will come for the Clip Sport in the future, due to its hardware limitations.
