Firmware is the software code that powers your Clip Sport Plus and Clip Voice. You can think of it as the operating system. SanDisk actively and periodically updates the capabilities, functionality, and reliability of the Firmware. For an optimal experience with your Clip Sport Plus/Voice, SanDisk recommends that you update your Firmware with each new release. It’s fast, easy, and free!

I noticed that with the latest firmware update to Clip Sport (version 1.38), the two annoying features that plagued Audible users of the Enhanced format that allowed for a single file (1: dropping the last seveal minutes; and 2: the increasing lag time to resume the further into a file playback was initiated) have been finally addressed.
Kudos to the firmware team, BTW, especially afer reading an explanation that concluded these issues were hardware design and beyond repair.
Can I assume that the most up-to-date firmware for the Clip Sport Plus has also incorporated this new functionality in its firmware?

the sport plus only supports Audible Enhanced format (AAX). I have not seen any reports of similar issues the sport and jam had.

Thanks, this post solved my problem. Audible tech didn't know that that only Enhanced mode was supported.
