Fuze+ General Information

Still need a media converter?  ah come on, that’s lame.   Takes way too much time. that’s the one envy I had about my coworkers ipod.  She could convert a movie and put it on her ipod immediately.  I had to conver the movie and then convert again to put on my Fuze.

The SMC is NOT required to convert videos for the Fuze+. Any video converter of your choice can be used. Here are the video file requirements for Fuze+

Wait…no SMC necessary? Are we talking drag and drop for videos…[I always thought that using the SMC was the achilles heal of the sansa line for videos]…because if we are talking drag and drop…this.player.will.rock.

What part of " The SMC is NOT required to convert videos for the Fuze+. Any video converter of your choice can be used. Here are the video file requirements for Fuze+" says drag & drop?

I hope the firmware is better than the firmware used for the Sansa View. Looking forward to the larger screen

I obviously meant use whatever converter you want, then drap and drop. Unless you know a way to install files onto the player through osmosis., ? If you do, please let me know, cause that would really be awesome.

Maybe the Great Carnac can do that . . .

:smileyvery-happy:

I was confused because it said

Video formats: MPEG-4***, H.264, WMV and Flip Video™***

then

*** Requires Sansa Media Converter via Sansa Updater. See kb.sandisk.com

If we use a different converter (for exmaple, I’ve bought one) that converts it, then is it not required?

Or will the SMC do the same job as any other video converter now?

Or do we need to use the SMC for the MPEG-4 and Flip Video only?

very confused here… please help…

Although this Fuze+ looks really great.

SMC is really only recommended not required. The reason it says that in the marketing material is a legal thing because the Fuze+ does not support most video in it’s native resolution. Conversion is required but SMC is not actually required. You can use any converter you choose as long as you convert the file to the specs required.

I just noticed, in the specifications, there are no case dimensions quoted.

Will the manual be available online soon?  I’d like to look through it.

The Manual is USELESS! There is more info on the website demos. I got mine yesterday had to play for awile to get the hang of it.

Are you sure it isn’t just the Quick User’s Guide?  That’s a barebones guide and gives just enough info to get you started.  A full manual will be available online.  It’ll be listed here

http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/User-guides-Firmware-Software/User-Manuals-for-all-Sansa-Products/td-p/185344

with all the other players’ manuals.  Sandisk’s manuals aren’t 100% complete, but it does give alot of useful info.

It is The Quick User’s Guide but thats all I got.

I think one of the bigger questions is, does it support full gapless playback?

Too late . . . somebody already beat you to it:

From the 1st post in the Sansa Fuze+ thread:

For enhanced versatility, the device also includes a recordable FM radio, gapless playback and a microphone for audio capture.
