Slow as hell writing speed, SanDisk Cruzer Edge 32GB.

I bought this SanDisk Cruzer Edge 32GB last August. Over the months It was working fast, Writing speed was about 30-40MB/s, but now it’s actually slow as hell (Screenshot Attached). Is it OK for it to be like this? They said it has 5 year warranty BTW. Why is is so SLOOOOOOOOOOOW?

   Hi MrKenkadze27,

Please, test it on others PCs.

Regards, Alfred.

Also, try transferring files smaller in size. It would also depend on it.

Still Slow on another PC. Still Slow When transfering small files.

   Hi MrKenkadze27,

_ Dear member of SanDisk Community, welcome. _

Well, seems something is wrong, in the UFD (USB flash drive or Pendrive).

Please, do the following tests:
1-   In Start / My Computer, on the card icon, click the right mouse button, and then click in Properties / Tools / Error Checking and Repair.
2-   If still bad, format the UFD.
3-   If still bad, consult the Technical Support,  link:  http://www.sandisk.com/about-sandisk/contact-us/

Luck, and then you tell us, what happened, please.

Regards, Alfred.                                                            (Google translated)

This approach might help:

Make sure you backup all your files before trying it.

So I already formatted it in Ubuntu Linux which has better disk management options than Windows.

In Ubuntu I did:

-I complately wiped it, meaning complate format, overwriting every block with zeros. That took over 2 hours because even the speed there was 3MB/s slow.

-Tried Different formats, exFAT, FAT32, NTFS, EXT4, still slow.

-When I completely wiped I deleted 100% everything, including partitions, MBR and ETC. and created them again, still slow.

I used this flash drive to boot Ubuntu Live-USB from it when I inserted it computer. I haven’t used it that much, just only booted 4 times. While it still works, It’s still slow.

So the flash drive is worn out right? It says it has 5 year warranty. So I just have to take it to where I bought it and they should replace it with new one, right?

I mean I Also have a Transcend flash drive that is supposed to be not better than this drive and it still is fast as at least 10MB/s and I used it same way as I did on this one, Booting Ubuntu. While I only had that one for few months it works better than SanDisk one I have.

Probably not. You most likely will have to put in a warranty claim with SanDisk and if they determine the drive is faulty or has “worn out” they will replace it directly.
