On my laptop t home and pc at college, this USB is taking a lot of time to recongnize. it takes up to 5mins. I bought this a month ago as well
Have you tried the Safe Mode?
If the flash drive cannot be recognized in the Safe Mode, then the drive is dead.
If the flash drive can be read in Safe Mode, then some software installed in your computer block the drive from being detected.
There might be some files that causing this for you. You might want to back up everything and do a reformat. See if that helps.
