SanDisk Extreme Pro 128 GB and speed in Windows 7

Hi all!

I tested my SanDisk Extreme Pro 128 GB with CrystalDiskMark in Windows 7 (I have an Asus N76VZ notebook with 4 USB 3.0 ports) and here are the results (mine are on the right):

Then, I repeated the same test in the same notebook, but with Windows 8 (which was preinstalled), and… I was astonished:

In Windows 8, I could reach the full speed in writing and reading boasted by SanDisk.

After many researches, I couldn’t find an explanation for this. I’m inclined to think it could depend on the Intel drivers for USB 3.0 in Windows 7, while Windows 8 supports natively USB 3.0 and the drivers are Microsoft.

However, I tried the speed test with a netbook of mine (Acer Aspire One), with one USB 3.0 port and Windows 7, but AMD processor and USB drivers, and I got the same results of the Asus.

So, I can’t say if this could be a Windows 7 problem, instead.

To conclude, anyone can tell me if he can reach the full speed (more than 200 MB/s) with this flash drive in Windows 7?

Thanks in advance!

   Hi Winston,

Dear member of SanDisk Community, welcome.

Friend, I congratulate you on the clarity and relevance of your message.

I also appreciate, that share your experiments with the community, because I believe that are very didactic and useful.

I share your deduction concerning the drivers.

But, I do not have a UFD 128 GB, USB 3.0; to make the experience, etc.

My suggestion is: contact with SanDisk Technical Support, because they have the lab and engineers suitable to investigate the issue.

Do you honestly think Tech Support is staffed with engineers?

@Mr_Wolf , are both OSs 64-bit?

Hi! Thanks for your answers.

Actually, more than support, I was asking for someone who could have made similar tests, just to make a comparison.

I searched high and low and I couldn’t find any answer.  :confounded:

Windows 7  & 8 are both 64 bit.
