I want to install software on my usb drive and don’t know exactly how to do that. Tried installing from my Win 7 laptop but launchpad didn’t see the file to install. It saw folders but not files. Want to use the drive to scan host computer for virus and or malware. Can’t I just use pc software on my drive?

No. Apps/software must be packaged into a U3 format to be added to the Launchpad. See this link for more info:
