How to avoid buying fake SD cards or tell if they are fake?

  Hello,

I am a 1st time card buyer it wasn’t until after I read customer reviews that I learned fake cards are being sold on the internet.

How can I make sure I’m getting a real Sandisk SD memory card?

Is this a fake Sandisk SD HS memory card?It won’t format on my device, which has an internal computer,or work with my SD card reader.

If links can be posted on he forum, can someone look at this card and let me know if it’s a fake or real Sandisk SD card?

           thanks,

It may not be fake, but it could be used or broken.  Did it come in SanDisk packaging?

And why format a new device?  If it is new it doesn’t need to be formated.

The best way to tell if a SD card is fake is to run the H2 burn in test. However, you do need to have the card in your possession to do so, but I am sure if you are unsatisfied or can prove that the SD card is fake, the seller will have to reimburse you. For more info on testing for fake flash memory, check out my page which has a tutorial with video guide.

With regard to fake Sandisk cards,  I notice that on older cards,  the Sandisk Registered logo was molded into the back face of the card,  (this is quite difficult to fake)  however, on the new cards,  this does not appear to be so,  both the old and new, had (made in china) on them,  I therefore wonder if sandisk would comment on why they have discontinued this practice, or whether ALL cards without this logo are fakes ?

Don’t know how “old” you’re referring to, but I have numerous SanDisk SD cards, the newest being only a few months old and going back in age to about 5 years.

None of them have any registered SanDisk logo (or anything for that matter) molded into either the front nor the back of the card.

Real or fake?

Hard to say.  Buy one and try it and let us know.

Personally I buy very little from eBay.

fake SD card, try fake Hard drive  gotta love the glued in bolts and nuts to simulate the weight haha

I don’t know what your complaining about, they must be a very generous company

to use this much glue

I take it that the component with the black and red wires, is actually a USB stick

with the casing removed

Be interested to know what makers name was on the outer casing

yeap, that is a USB stick and 2 wires are extending to the LED on the enclosure. haha

Why are you complaining? You received an SSD drive for the price of a HDD

(just joking)
