open system information and go to Serial ATA. it will show what SATA chipset you have. If it has the Nvidia MCP79 SATA chipset that is likely the issue. The MCP79 SATA chipset has a ton os issues with SSDs

Hi,

     It is not…

NVidia MCP89 AHCI:

  Vendor:    NVidia
  Product:    MCP89 AHCI
  Link Speed:    3 Gigabit
  Negotiated Link Speed:    1.5 Gigabit
  Description:    AHCI Version 1.30 Supported

Any sugesstions ?

do you have an external enclosure or a different system to test the disk in. If you see similar issues on other devices the SSD would need to be replaced. MCP89 is the same family IIRC so it may have similar issues as the 79.

Hi,

Your suggestion works…  I use a desktop to format and install linux in the SSD sucessfully.  Concluded it is not SSD issue.

Then , put back to MAC and try again… It works now :smileyvery-happy:

Loooks it is a good work-around.
